Building Envelope Upgrades

Building envelope upgrades represent one of the most cost-effective opportunities for increasing energy efficiency in buildings. There are a number of barriers to adopting building envelope upgrades, many of which fall into the category of information asymmetry, meaning that people do not have enough information to make the right economic choices. That's what we're facing in a lot of energy efficiency markets, especially around building envelopes. People understand things like appliances, lighting, solar, etc., and how that all works, but most don’t fully grasp the role of the thermal barrier in a building. Green Metrics is dedicated to catalyzing an energy efficiency market in Alberta through the delivery of a digital platform that supports and enables building data analytics and decision making about building retrofits. Our built-in Green Workers app streamlines the procurement of technical work by local trades and technicians, and procurement of bids by project developers to get work. Through our Green Finance app we leverage low-risk, low-cost debt, grants, and performance credits, through partnerships with financial institutions and government agencies. Green Metrics is working with leaders in the energy efficiency market to drive more higher quality building retrofits and quickly reduce carbon emissions from the built environment.
